SNÆFELLSNES PENINSULA | PRIVATE PHOTO-TOUR

The Snæfellsnes Peninsula is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable destinations in Iceland, boasting rugged and vast landscapes marked by cliffs, lava pools, mountain ranges, and the nearby ocean, making it a breathtaking place to explore.

Prepare yourself for a long day trip, with multiple stops along the way. It's a good idea to bring some snacks in your bag to keep your energy levels high.

Snæfellsnes is often referred to as "Iceland in Miniature," providing a glimpse of what awaits you.

Our first stop is the stunning white sand Ytri Tunga beach, where charming seals pose along the shore, creating a picture-perfect scene. You'll also catch a glimpse of Snæfellsjökull glacier in the backdrop, setting the tone for the rest of the trip. We'll then head towards the quaint village of Búðir, where a small black church known as Búðakirkja stands as the only attraction. The surreal landscape of endless fields with a solitary church looming on the horizon offers a truly unforgettable view.

As we move closer to the glacier, we'll make a stop at Arnarstapi village, a natural masterpiece with basalt columns and cliffs surrounding one of Iceland's most impressive natural harbors. A remarkable stone bridge offers an excellent opportunity for beautiful photos and I will be ready to capture the moment.

Finally, it's time to witness the main attraction of our trip - the Snæfellsjökull glacier. Standing at over 1400 meters, this dormant volcano towers over the Snæfellsnes National Park, leaving visitors in awe of its majestic beauty. It's a view you can't miss, and there are numerous intriguing stories surrounding this landmark.

After soaking up the views, we'll head to Djúpalónssandur, a black rocky beach located at the foot of the glacier. Lava fields covered in beautiful moss lead the way, providing yet another portion of marvelous views. Although it's now uninhabited, the bay still bears traces of its prosperous fishing village past.

Our final stop of the day is the iconic Kirkjufell mountain, Iceland's most recognizable landmark and probably its most photographed mountain. With its cylindrical shape resembling a steeple, Kirkjufell mesmerizes visitors with its dramatic formation and changing colors.

While we've covered some of the most popular attractions, there are plenty of hidden gems to discover along the way!
